Final Project

For my final project I thought throughout the semester what was the biggest aspect of media I learned about. I was really introduced to many different websites and different programs that will prove to be very helpful in my classroom. The biggest aspect of media I learned about was making videos. I struggled in the biggest way when I started editing and even trying to work a camera that I gave up. Eventually it became fun to be able to create and think of interesting videos to make. When I decided to make a video for my final project I thought about what classes in school are not usually represented through media. The most prominent being physical education. To do this I created a story board, got permission from several different children’s parents for media release and filmed each scene. Once filmed I edited the clips together to create a “Why we stretch” video. This video could be used for guides at the beginning of a gym class and can also help answer the question that I once asked to my gym teacher “Why do we have to waste our time to stretching instead of playing games?” I made several different versions of this video and have changed my original story board a ton of times. To go with this video I thought of other ways I could connect phys. ed. to technology. I have taken two Kinesiology classes related to teaching gym and a major theme throughout is that families do not do physical activity together and many times it is due to time. What I have done is created a blog for a Phys Ed. class that keeps families connected and gives ideas for activities and lifestyle choices that are very easy to improve overall living for the entire family. I hope to keep updating this blog throughout my journey in becoming a teacher and once I am a teacher I hope to be able to try this blog out and see how it works in connecting families to physical education.   Click here to view the blog!
