My Philosophy of Teaching and Learning

My philosophy of teaching and learning work hand in hand. I believe that as a teacher I should be learning something as I am teaching. I may not necessarily be expanding my knowledge about the particular subject area but I want to be learning about new resources in technology that will improve my students understanding and address many different learning styles. I also hope that I can create an environment in my classroom that is comfortable enough for students to ask for help. Not only do I want students to be able to ask me for help but be able to ask each other for help.

I believe teaching and learning are entering a new realm at a rapid pace. Before taking ECMP 355, I would never think to incorporate blogs, facebook or twitter into my learning and my students learning. But now I feel that the these tools paired with support from me as a teacher creates a learning environment that prepares and excites students for their futures!
